Fighting Weekend Hunger, One Food Pack at a Time

While schools provide free lunches during the week, many children have no guaranteed meals on weekends.

Feeding San Diego’s Kids fills this gap. Since 2012, we’ve delivered nutritious food packs to low-income families through local schools, reaching dense urban neighborhoods in central San Diego.

Most people see San Diego as a vibrant coastal city, but beneath the surface, thousands struggle with hunger and disaster recovery. Many kids rely on school meals, leaving them vulnerable on weekends, while flood victims face long, uncertain rebuilds.

Many people see San Diego as a vibrant coastal city, but beneath the surface, thousands struggle with hunger and disaster recovery. Many kids rely on school meals, leaving them vulnerable on weekends, while flood victims face long, uncertain rebuilds.

Feeding San Diego’s Kids

Hunger doesn’t take weekends off-school meals do.

Feeding San Diego’s Kids fills that gap, providing weekend meals to 300 low-income families last year.

Fueled by Volunteers

Each week, volunteers fill food packs with nutritional food for a family of 4 for 2 days. At the end of the week, food packs are delivered by volunteers to local schools where a designated School Liaison distributes them to those children in the program.
