International Relief Teams (“International Relief Teams,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to respecting the privacy of its financial and in-kind donors and prospective donors (“donor,” “you” or “your”), whether the donation is made online, by mail, telephone or any other method. We have created this Donor Privacy Policy to provide transparency as to our practices, policies and procedures for the collection, use and protection of information that is provided to us by donors (“Donor-Related Information”).
This policy applies to all Donor-Related Information received by International Relief Teams, both online and offline, as well as any electronic, written, or oral communications. This policy supplements but does not replace International Relief Teams’ main Privacy Policy found on its website.
We encourage you to read this Donor Privacy Policy (and if you use our website, our main Privacy Policy). Please email us, or call us with any questions regarding our privacy and security practices at 619-284-7979.
General Donation Terms
All donations, gifts and pledge commitments, regardless of size, designation, or gift type will be respectfully considered and gratefully accepted except in the instances where a gift may be contrary to International Relief Teams’ best interests, or outside the scope of International Relief Teams’ mission. We reserve the right to accept or reject any gift at our sole discretion.
Accepted contributions made to International Relief Teams are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law and will be used to further our mission. Donors may designate contributions to specific projects; however International Relief Teams reserves the right to reallocate designated donations if a project is overfunded.
A donation may be cancelled up until the time it has been processed by us. Once a donation is processed, it cannot be cancelled and shall be non-refundable.
Types of Donor-Related Information We Collect
When a donor makes a financial or in-kind donation, or registers for and/or attends one of our events, International Relief Teams may collect Donor-Related Information such as names, company names, titles, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, payment information (like credit card data), in-kind donation information, record of donations, etc.
We may also collect Donor-Related Information from referrals from our network of donors, prospective donors, volunteers and other members in the charitable community or if you complete any of our donor interest surveys or donor demographic surveys. Such information may include your name, company name, titles, addresses, phone numbers, email addresses, interests, concerns, affiliations, preferences, passions, charitable contribution history, and other information that may identify, relates to, describes or could reasonably be linked, directly or indirectly with you.
Like several other organizations, we and our third-party service providers use cookies and other tracking technologies on our website, which may collect your IP address and other information relating to your device and the webpages you have visited. We will use IP addresses to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer our website, to analyze trends, to track users’ interests on our website, to gather broad demographic information for aggregate use in order for us to improve the website and to deliver customized, personalized content. You can refuse cookies and other tracking technologies by turning them off in your browser.
For more information on the types of information we may collect through our website, including how we use cookies and other tracking technologies, please see our Privacy Policy.
How We Use Donor-Related Information
We use Donor-Related Information for the reasons set forth in this Donor Privacy Policy, our main Privacy Policy, and as disclosed to you at the time of our collection of such Donor Privacy Policy, including without limitation to maintain records of donations, to respond to donor inquiries, to comply with the law or with any legal process served on International Relief Teams, for IRS purposes, to analyze overall giving patterns in order to make more accurate budget projections, to develop strategies and present gift proposals, to issue donation acknowledgements, to understand donors’ interests in our mission and to update them on the organization’s plans and activities, to inform planning about who receives future fundraising appeals, to organize and promote fundraising events, and to inform donors of relevant programs and services through newsletters, notices and direct mail pieces, and to analyze our website usage.
We may also use Donor-Related Information to protect against potential fraud. We may verify with third parties the information collected in the course of processing a gift, event registration or other donation.
Who We Share Donor-Related Information With
We engage third party contractors and service providers to help us process donations and acknowledgments. As a result, such third-party contractors and service providers may have access to Donor-Related Information in the course of providing such products or services for us. Access to Donor-Related Information by these contractors and service providers will be limited to the information reasonably necessary for the contractor or service provider to perform its limited function for us. For example, we use credit card processing service providers for credit card donations and must share credit card/billing information with these service providers in order to process your credit card donation. We make reasonable efforts to require all third-party service providers to keep all Donor-Related Information in confidence and to use appropriate security measures to protect Donor-Related Information.
We will not trade, share or sell Donor-Related Information with anyone else, nor send you donor mailings on behalf of other organizations, except as set forth in this Donor Privacy Policy or our main Privacy Policy, as disclosed to you at the time of collection, or unless you have given us specific permission to do so.
Publication of Donor Names
Unless otherwise requested by the donor, donor names may be featured in recognition lists with other donors in our publications such as the website, annual reports and other publications and materials about our organization and programs. Upon making a donation to International Relief Teams, donors will be prompted to select their anonymity preference, thus determining their preference to be featured in such publications.
When a donor requests that a donation, gift or fund be treated as anonymous, the donor’s wishes will be honored.
Future Solicitations and Opt-Out Options
We will send periodic text messages, mailings or emails to our donors for solicitation purposes and to give updates to donors about our programs, charitable activities and mission. Donors may ask to be removed from such mailing or email list at any time by unsubscribing to our newsletter through the link provided in our correspondence or contacting us at info@irteams.org, by phone at 619-284-7979, or by post at:

It is our policy to honor any no-solicitation request as quickly as possible. However, we are legally required to internally retain records related to donations made, so we cannot delete your name upon request. Instead, we flag records internally so that we can honor no-solicitation requests by suppressing mailings.
Storage and Security
International Relief Teams is committed to protecting the security of collected Donor-Related Information and takes reasonable security precautions to help protect such information from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure.
If you make a donation either offline or online, we will store your donor contact information (name, email address, postal address and record of donations) in our donor database, which we use reasonable measures to protect and secure. If you make a donation through our website, our donation forms require you to give us contact information that may include name, e-mail address, postal address, phone numbers, and billing information. We engage third-party service providers to encrypt and protect the transmission of the information you submit to us when you use our secure online donation forms, and the information you provide to us is stored securely in our donor database and/or the secure data bases of our third-party providers.
However, despite our good faith efforts, we cannot guarantee the security of our database, nor can we guarantee that the information you supply will not be intercepted while being transmitted to us over the internet.
