The East Coast endured relentless storms, leaving families without homes, food, or necessities. Entire communities grappled with destroyed infrastructure, flooded streets, and the overwhelming uncertainty of what came next. Immediate humanitarian aid was critical—not just to survive the moment, but to begin rebuilding.
It made landfall in 2018 and became North Carolina’s most devastating natural disaster. The damage was so extensive that long-term rebuilding is still needed to get families back home. Each month, teams of skilled construction volunteers from International Relief Teams spend a week repairing and rebuilding homes for those still displaced.
One of the deadliest storms in recent history, Hurricane Helene struck on September 26, submerging entire towns and leaving North Carolina’s hardest-hit communities without food, water, or power.
We stepped in fast, delivering 3.5 million pounds of food and emergency supplies—helping 55,997 people across seven states find safety and relief.
Just two weeks after Helene, Hurricane Milton made landfall in Florida, slamming storm-weary communities with Category 3 winds and relentless rain. Families who had barely begun to recover were left stranded once again.
We provided 850,000 pounds of emergency aid—ensuring food, water, and shelter for thousands caught in the storm’s path.
