International Relief Teams Responds to Victims of Hurricane Florence

San Diego – September 13, 2018 - San Diego-based International Relief Teams (IRT) is supplying relief aid to victims of Hurricane Florence on the East Coast. The hurricane is expected to cause massive damage from dangerous storm surges, coastal flooding, and unprecedented inland rainfall. States of emergency have been declared in the Carolinas,Virginia, Maryland, and Georgia and more than one million are under mandatory evacuation orders.

As an initial response in anticipation of catastrophic damage and flooding from Hurricane Florence, IRT has already pre-positioned disaster health kits at evacuation centers in North Carolina. IRT has also purchased 5,400 ready-to-eat meals. Once the storm has passed, they will be trucked into the hardest hit areas and will be delivered to evacuation centers where they are most needed.

IRT has 30 years of experience in assisting victims of disasters, both nationally and internationally. IRT has already delivered more than $1.3 million in aid to the victims of last year’s hurricanes Harvey, Irma, and Maria, and plans to deliver significant ongoing help to the victims of Hurricane Florence.
