IRT Volunteers - "Making a Difference" Pete Dudley
Since 1975, Pete has been active in President Jimmy Carter's Habitat for Humanity, home-building projects. Pete's work with Habitat for Humanity has taken him to Los Angeles, South Dakota, Kentucky, Georgia, New York, Texas, Canada, the Philippines, Kauai, Mexico, Hungary and South Korea. Believing that "God has no borders", Pete has made more than 25 trips to Baja, California to construct and repair youth camps and orphanages in support of Nazarene Church Missions and the Miracle Ranch Children's Home. Pete has also traveled to Guatemala and Honduras to construct shelters for widows and orphans in support of Wycliffe Missions.
Pete, with his steadfast commitment and dedication to assist the poor and victims of disaster, also traveled with IRT disaster relief missions to repair homes of displaced victims of floods in Northern California, Hurricane Hugo in South Carolina, and Hurricane Fran in North Carolina. In 1999, he returned to North Carolina as the team leader for 12 IRT construction teams who traveled to North Carolina over a two year period to help repair the homes of victims of Hurricane Floyd. And, since 2006, Pete has led 19 of the 20 bi-monthly construction teams that IRT has deployed to date to Mississippi to help rebuild homes of elderly and low-income victims damaged by Hurricane Katrina! During the past 21 years, we have witnessed firsthand the tremendous difference that volunteers with willing hearts can make in the lives of others. Pete Dudley exemplifies this type of volunteer and continues to be an inspiration to us all. We are indeed fortunate to have Pete as part of our team he truly is making a difference. |
