IRT responds to the
Disaster in Myanmar

The powerful cyclone that slammed into and devastated the coastal areas of Myanmar (Burma) on May 3rd has left (at last count) more than 22,000 dead and more than 41,000 unaccounted for. Thousands have been left homeless, and are in desperate need of essential relief supplies to sustain them as they struggle to survive.

The most immediate needs are tarps, tents, mosquito nets, water purification tablets, food, medicines and medical supplies. International Relief Teams is collecting cash donations to purchase these items, and will be working with partner organizations that already have an established presence in Myanmar and have the capability to distribute these items to those most in need.

Myanmar Update

As you are probably aware, because of government obstruction to outside relief efforts, it has taken much longer than expected to secure a reliable pipeline of relief into Myanmar. IRT, through the help of a number of international and local agencies, is now able get relief supplies into Myanmar, to be distributed by local partners.

As an initial shipment, IRT is sending a large module of essential medicines and supplies, with supplemental anti-malaria components, to be distributed by our in-country partners. The module can sustain 10,000 people for three months. Your donation will enable IRT to send as many modules as possible. To help those suffering in Myanmar, please click here.
