IRT Construction Volunteers - Rebuilding Homes & Lives of Hurricane Katrina Victims

In 2005, Hurricane Katrina, the most expensive natural disaster in U.S. history, carved a path of death and destruction through the Gulf Coast leaving hundreds dead and thousands homeless. In response to this unprecedented tragedy, International Relief Teams (IRT) made a commitment to send bi-monthly teams of construction volunteers to help repair and rebuild homes for displaced poor and elderly families in afflicted areas in Mississippi.

IRT works with local agencies and organizations who screen those families and/or individuals who are exceptionally at-risk and whose needs are not adequately responded to by state or federal programs. Because of the extensive poverty in the region, this will be a massive effort that may go on for many years.

Since 1993, IRT has sent hundreds of post-disaster reconstruction teams to help families get back into their homes in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Missouri, West Virginia, Northern California, and Texas.

Skilled construction volunteers - carpenters, roofers, electricians, drywallers and plumbers are needed on these teams. To volunteer or for more information, please call Tamra at our office:
